 Tous les ans je parcours les environs à sa recherche. J'inspecte tous les pieds de fausses carottes (Daucus carota), de panais (Pastinaca sativa) dans l'espoir de la voir. Je ne crois pas en avoir trouvé l'an dernier et cette année s'annonçait identique. Jusqu'à ce matin :) 

Elle est minuscule, à peine 2 cm mais c'est bien elle: la chenille du machaon (Papilio machaon). Petite mais en stade 4 voir 5 c'est à dire proche de la nymphose. Peut être cela est-il dû aux fortes pluies et orages des dernières semaines.

Espérons que l'année prochaine leur sera plus favorable.

 

Every year I go around looking for it. I inspect all the plants of false carrots (Daucus carota), parsnips (Pastinaca sativa) in the hope of seeing it. I don't think I found any last year and this year was looking the same. Until this morning :)

It's tiny, barely 2 cm but it's definitely it: the swallowtail caterpillar (Papilio machaon). Small but in stage 4 or 5, that is to say close to pupation. Maybe this is due to the heavy rains and storms of the last few weeks.

Let's hope that next year will be more favorable to them.

une chenille que j'adore tellement et dont je rêve de faire le portrait de son profil ailé: le machaon (Papilio machaon).

Présage * Omen

Lorsque je suis arrivé dans ce nouveau coin j'avais, dès la première année, repéré qu'il y avait des machaons (Papilio machaon). Une photo pas terrible c'est tout ce que j'avais pu faire. L'an dernier, point de papillons mais, des chenilles par dizaines.

Cette année, fin avril, et je le croise déjà. Une rencontre furtive que le vent a précipité mais il était là. Le fond n'est pas joli mais lui qu'est ce qu'il est beau :) 

Serait ce le présage d'une année fructueuse où, enfin, je pourrai faire de lui un beau portrait ???

When I arrived in this new place I had, from the first year, located that there were swallowtail butterflies (Papilio machaon). A not terrible photo that's all that I had been able to make. Last year, no butterflies but, caterpillars by tens.
This year, at the end of April, and I already meet it. A furtive meeting that the wind precipitated but it was there. The background is not attractive but how beautiful is this butterfly :)

Would be it augurs of a fruitful year when, finally, I can make of it a beautiful portrait???
