Babouin gelada * Gelada baboon

Le babouin gelada (Theropithecus gelada) est originaire d'Ethiopie. C'est un primate herbivore et granivore, bien qu'il puisse occasionnellement manger quelques insectes. 

C'est un singe diurne, terrestre, social et grégaire qui vit en groupes composés d'un mâle et de plusieurs femelles accompagnées de leur progéniture.

Comme pour beaucoup d'animaux sa population est menacée par la réduction de son habitat. Des projets sont en cours pour essayer de protéger et restaurer cette espèce.

The gelada baboon (Theropithecus gelada) is native of Ethiopia. It is a herbivorous and granivorous animal, although he can occasionally eat some insects.

He is diurnal, ground, social and gregarious monkey who lives in groups consisted of a male and several females accompanied with their offspring.

As for many animals his population is threatened by the reduction of its environment. Projects are in progress to try to protect and to restore this species.
