Le demi deuil (Melanargia galathea) est un des papillons les plus courant ici. Il vole de mai à septembre en une seule génération. La femelle pond ses oeufs en vol. La chenille éclôt en 3 semaines, se nourrit un peu puis cherche un abri pour hiverner. 

The marbled white (Melanargia galathea) is one of the most common butterfly here. It flies from May till September in a single generation. The female lays its eggs during flight. The caterpillar hatches in the 3 weeks, feeds a little then look for a shelter to winter.

Melanargia galathea

Une des particularités du demi deuil (Melanargia galathea) est que la femelle pond ses oeufs en vol. La chenille éclôt trois semaines plus tard. C'est sous cette forme que le "papillon" passera l'hiver.

On les trouve dans les zones riche en graminées qui sont les plantes hôtes et il apprécie fortement les centaurées.

One of the peculiarities of the marbled-white (Melanargia galathea) is that the female lays its eggs during flight. The caterpillar hatches three weeks later. It is under this form that the "butterfly" will spend winter.

We find them in zones rich in grasses which are hosts plants and it strongly appreciates centauries.

En ces jours pluvieux ils ne sont pas nombreux mais ils sont bien là.

Les demi deuils (Melanargia galathea) sont de sortie. Très nombreux, ils se retrouvent parfois à plusieurs pour partager une fleur ...

The marbled white (Melanargia galathea) are out. Very numerous, there are sometimes several of them to share a flower...

   

ce qui n'est pas toujours facile. Alors ils se bousculent, se volent dans les plumes écailles ....

this is not always easy. Then they crowd, go for each other ....

et finalement l'un d'eux décident de passer son chemin ....

and finally one of them decide to go its way ....

c'est tellement bien de se régaler seul dans son coin ;)

Parasité * Parasited

Vous l'avez déjà peut être vu car il est fréquent de voir en été des papillons ou autres insectes porteurs de "petites grosseurs" rouge. Ces grosseurs,sont en fait des larves d'acariens: des Trombidium breei. Ils sembleraient qu'ils soient inoffensifs pour le papillon qui, tirerait même un avantage de l'association, le rouge de l'acarien servant de couleur aposémique et signalant une toxicité aux éventuels prédateurs.

You  may have already seen that some butterfly carry in summer some sort of " small red thicknesses ". These thicknesses, are in fact larvas of acaria: Trombidium breei. It seems that they are harmless for the butterfly who, would even take an advantage of the association, the red of the acarid serving as warning color and indicating a toxicity to the possible predators.
