Ne jamais baisser les bras * Never give up

Après une année 2018 très difficile physiquement pour moi, je voyais 2019 encore plus sombre ... 

Mais à force de me battre, et de ne pas accepter la situation j'ai réussi (bon ok il y a aussi le nouvel antalgique qui m'a aidé). Réussir à remonter seule avec mes chiens en forêt et reprendre la photo, il a 3 semaines, je n'y croyais pas vraiment.

Hier quand j'ai vu les tortues voleter autour de moi je ne pensais pas réussir à en immortaliser une car me poser au sol est encore difficile (disons que ça fait plouf! de cette façon pas facile de ne pas effaroucher les insectes). Mais voilà j'en ai eu une. La photo est loin d'être parfaite mais pour moi c'est une victoire!

 

After a 2018 year very physically difficult for me, I saw 2019 even darker ...

But by dint of fighting, and not accepting the situation I succeed (well, there is also the new analgesic that helped me). Succeed to go up alone with my dogs in the forest and take pictures, 3 weeks ago, I wouldn't have believe it.
Yesterday when I saw the tortoishells fluttering around me I didn't think I could immortalize one because to put me on the ground is still difficult (say that it splashes! This way it's not easy not to frighten insects). But here I got one. The picture is far from perfect but for me it's a victory!

Et lorsque je me suis retrouvé dans un banc de bombyles (il y en avait des dizaines le long de ce chemin à chercher un coin où pondre) je me suis dit je tente. Je m'installe dans un coin où il y  en avait beaucoup et j'attends leur retour. Le problème, en plein soleil, en fin de balade les chiens étaient fatigués et ne supportaient pas de rester statiques. J'ai donc capitulé. Mais plus loin, au lieu de fureter à la recherche d'un coin terreux, ils prenaient le soleil sur les herbes séchées. J'ai tenté ... et réussi ! Une fois encore cette photo n'est pas parfaite mais c'est encore une victoire!!

And when I found myself in a shoal of bombyles (there were dozens along this path looking for a place to lay) I thought I will try. I sit in a corner where there were many and I await their return. The problem, in full sun, at the end of the ride the dogs were tired and could not stand to stay static. So I surrendered. But farther, instead of snooping in search of an earthy corner, they were sunbathing on dried herbs. I tried ... and succeeded! Once again this picture is not perfect but it's still a victory!

Frigorifié * Cooled

Ce bombyle indéterminé (Bombylius sp) était frigorifié par la nuit fraiche que nous avions eu. Cela m'a permis de pouvoir le voir plus facilement.

This indefinite bee-fly (Bombylius sp) was cooled by the cold night that we had. I thus can see it completely

Petit colibri * Little hummingbird

Cette année, dès le mois de mars, j'avais eu de la chance de le croiser et le surprendre.

This year, from March, I had been lucky to meet it and to surprise it.

Le grand bombyle (Bombylius major) est un syrphe qui ressemble à une abeille ou un bourdon.

The large bee fly (Bombylius major) is a bee mimic, it looks like a bee or a bumblebee. 

 

Cette ressemblance permet aux femelles de pondre dans les galeries de guêpes ou d'abeilles solitaires.

This resemblance allows the females to lay their eggs in the galleries of wasps or solitary bees.

 

Une fois éclose, les larves se dirigent dans la galerie pour se nourrir des larves de leurs "hôtes".

Once hatched, larvas go in the gallery to feed on larvas of their "hosts".

Bombyle * Bee-fly

Les bombyles sont, dans leur forme adulte, des insectes qui se nourrisent de nectar d'où, leur très grande trompe.

Bee-fly are, in their grown-up shape, insects which feed on nectar with their very big slender tongue.
