Leptidea sp 2019 #2

Leptidea fut un des plus présents Pieridae de ce début de saison. Vu notre localisation il y a de fortes chances pour que ce soit Leptidea sinapis mais pour différencier les différents Leptidea il est préférable de voir les genitalias ce qui ne peut se faire que sur l'animal mort ... donc on se contente de Leptidea sp ;)

Leptidea was one of the most present Pieridae of this beginning of the season. Given our location there is a good chance that it's Leptidea sinapis but to differentiate the different Leptidea it's better to see the genitalia which can only be done on the dead animal ... so we stay at Leptidea sp ;)

Le Leptidea sp est sans doute le Pieride qui se laisse approcher le plus facilement. En théorie, pour pouvoir être sûr de l'espèce, il faut observer les genitalia (et donc tuer le papillon). Pendant longtemps on a cru qu'en Lorraine seul L. sinapis était présent mais, certaines études, tendraient à prouver que L. juvernica serait lui aussi présent.

Leptidea sp is doubtless the Pieridae which allowed us to approach the most easily. In theory, to be able to be sure of the species, it is necessary to observe genitalia (and thus kill the butterfly). For a long time we believed that in Lorraine only L. sinapis was present but, certain studies, would tend to prove that L. juvernica would be too present.

Piéride * Pieridae

Par un matin de mai pluvieux où j'allais jeter un oeil sur l'évolution des orchidées lorraines que j'ai repérée (et que je vous présenterai plus tard), j'ai croisé sur mon chemin un petit nouveau: une piéride du genre Leptidea.

pour l'instant je fais encore des recherches pour en savoir plus sur lui. En attendant, contentons nous de l'admirer sans savoir son nom ...

On a rainy morning of May, when I was going to have a look on the evolution of the orchids of Lorraine which I located (and that I'll present you later), I crossed on my way a new butterfly: a pierid of the genre Leptidea.

At the moment I'm still searching to know more about it. In the meantime, let us satisfy we to admire it without knowing its name...
