Rose chafer (Cetonia aurata) are very useful beetles in Nature and the garden. Adults of the beginning of the season eat mainly pollen, those of late summer, fruits (elderberry, hawthorn, spirea).
It's their larvae that are most useful. They feed on very decomposed wood and thus compost are very suitable for them which accelerates their maturation. This food is poor in nutrients, thus the evolution of the larvae is over several years.
